It is our dream that prayer be the central focus of our corporate worship experience.
We design our worship experiences to be more like a House of Prayer than simply a house of worship songs and preaching. God never said that His house was to be a house of worship songs and preaching, as important as these elements are, but God did say, “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Isaiah 56:7). Prayers of praise and adoration (Psalm 71:6, 14), thanksgiving (Psalm 100:4), intercession for others (1 Timothy 2:1-5), confession of sin (1 John 1:9), healing (James 5:14), personal needs (Matthew 7:7), and spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12) will have a prominent focus in our corporate worship Experiences. Prayer is the foundation on which everything we do rests. We can do nothing apart from the power of prayer. Everything we do begins and ends with prayer. (Love God.)
It is our dream that Northview would be a Prayer Center.
Where twelve, fourteen, sixteen hours a day there are men, women, and students praying through requests sent to the church through the Connection Card, website, 24/7 prayer phone line, and our online prayer room. People will sign up for one to two hour shifts in the Prayer Center. It is my dream that God puts a burden on people’s hearts to pray. (Love God.)
It is our dream to see ministry dollars used primarily to fund the vision rather then the facility.
We refuse to let debt limit ministry resources to the extent that ministry (vision) and personnel have to be set aside in order to pay the rent or mortgage. The Pastor who launched our denomination in 1908, Dr. Bresee said, “Let the Church of the Nazarene be true to its commission; not great and elegant buildings, but to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, and wipe away the tears of sorrowing…” It is a dream of returning to the heart of Dr. Bresee’s original vision. (Love God. Love Others. Serve.)
It is a dream to be a multicultural and multiracial church.
Northview is committed to be a place where all are welcome to worship God without discrimination because of color, race, ethnicity, language or culture. Our doors will always be open to people of all races and nations. We will do our best to make sure that our leadership, in every area of ministry, reflects this. We will model to the world what Heaven looks like! (Love God.)
It is our dream to use the Creative Arts to communicate God’s message to seekers and believers alike.
I want artists of every expressive venue to experience encouragement and affirmation – that their gifts are valued by God and vital to communicating His message of grace in the Church. Northview will reclaim the Arts for a Higher Purpose! (Love God.)
It is our dream to be a community where the hurting, broken, addicted, and lonely can find a place of love, acceptance, forgiveness, and healing.
We will be a “Prodigal Hugging” church providing ministries such as: Teen MOPS, Divorce Recovery, Grief Recovery, Celebrate Recovery and Financial Peace. Northview will be known as a Holy Spirit Hospital – a place of spiritual, social, emotional, moral and psychological healing. (Love Others.)
It is our dream to be a church that causes celebration in Heaven! (Christ candle each week)
Jesus said in Luke 15:10, “I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Who’s doing the rejoicing, the angels or God? God is! God loves to throw parties in Heaven for prodigals who come home. We will give our all to create environments where prodigals encounter extravagant grace and return home to a loving, heavenly Father! Grace means that the red carpet should be rolled out for everyone, because we are a church who exists for all, wherever they are, and wherever they’ve been. (Love Others.)
It is our dream to develop and equip Christ followers to spiritual maturity through Biblical teaching and preaching.
We will do this through Community groups, short-term Bible studies, seminars, retreats and gift assessments. While we are a “Prodigal Hugging” church, we are not careless morally, for that would silence our call to a lost world. We are a church of clear biblical standards rooted in the process of holiness: we are holy (the moment we surrender our lives to Christ), we are becoming holy (changed daily as the Holy Spirit works in our lives to make us more like Christ), and one day we will be holy (when we see Jesus in heaven). (Love Others.)
It is our dream to invest in the spiritual lives of our children and students through dynamic ministry.
The way we do church today will affect how they view the church and the Kingdom. They will fully know and comprehend how to reach out to their generation, and our role as a church will be to fund it and not fight it! One of the greatest investments that we can make today is one to have a dynamic Children’s and Student ministry! (Love God. Love Others. Serve.)
It is our dream to care for those in need in our surrounding community and the inner city.
We believe that “Small things done with great love will change the world.” The Yellow Bag ministry is an extension of that belief. It is a simple, straightforward approach for individuals, families and Community Groups to share God’s love to a hurting world. “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Galatians 5:6 (Serve)
It is our dream to send our people on short-term mission projects throughout Oklahoma City and the world. (Serve)
We will do this through mission projects such as, Christmas in the City, Cap and Coat Drive, Adopt A Family for Thanksgiving, and Adopt A Family for Christmas.
It is our dream to partner with like-minded Christian organizations to engage in social welfare and evangelism.
OKC Compassion, City Rescue Mission and other parachurch organizations. (Serve)
It is our dream to have multiple campuses led by campus pastors.
It is our dream to develop Campus Pastor’s and planting Northview multi-site campuses in Oklahoma City (specifically the urban areas), the nation, and beyond our borders. One of those campuses, an inner-city ministry, called “The Northview Dream Center,” will minister to the whole person spiritually, emotionally, physically, and socially. This is the heartbeat of your pastor! God uniquely designed me with the gifts and graces of planting churches. (Love God. Love Others. Serve.)
It is our dream to raise up courageous men of God who will be the spiritual leaders of their families and church.
It is a dream that courageous Northview men, along with the support of their families, will say, “By the grace of God, I will make a difference with my life. I will count the cost, pay the price, stand in the gap for my marriage and family, and give my life to see this vision fulfilled! (Love God. Love Others. Serve.)
